The First Baptist Church of Cottondale has been faithful as a New testament
Church fulfilling the great commission for 51 years. Many people have been faithful through
the years, and a great foundation has been established. There is a great debt
of graditude that I owe previous pastors and members who have "stayed by the stuff"
and made it possible for us to prosper these days.
My family and I are most grateful for the opportunity to serve here since 1997.
Some of the most wonderful people in the world are right here in Cottondale.
It has been a tremendous joy to serve in this place.
Often when a church has been in existence for 51 years, many people are living
in the past, and there is more reminiscing than vision. I am glad that is not
the case in Cottondale. Because of the solid foundation that has been
laid, I believe the church is ripe for explosive growth both numerically and spiritually.
It will be exciting in the years ahead, if the Lord tarries his coming, to see what
the Lord Jesus Christ will do in His church in Cottondale

I trusted the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of five. I
grew up in a Baptist preacher’s home, and thus was I taught about Christ from an early
age. As I look back on my childhood,
I realize how much God has blessed me. We never had an abundance of money. However,
my parents prayed and sang and learned Bible verses with their children – memories
which I hold very dear to my heart.
I was called to preach as a 14-year-old young man. After
high school, I attended Bible college at
Trinity
Baptist
Bible
College
under the leadership of Dr. Bob Smith. It
was there that I met the most beautiful woman on earth, who later became my wife. Two
weeks after graduation, on June 1st, Mickey and I were married. Four
weeks later we had moved to Cottondale!
The sad truth is that many teens do not have such memories. Worse
still, the ones that do neglect to appreciate them. As
Youth Pastor, it is my duty and my goal to help both groups of young people, while
not forgetting the spiritual teens. This
can be accomplished by providing spiritual leadership and a friendly smile, and at
the same time pointing teens to their parents and pastor. Above
all, we must nurture a growing spiritual walk with God among teenagers. Those
who are lost need Christ. Those who know
Christ should know him better.
Please pray for my wife, Mickey, and I as we work with the youth and serve our Lord
in Cottondale.
